There were seven new entires, eight climbers, twenty three songs going down and two non movers on this weeks chart.  Jason Derulo went straight in at the top with 'In My Head' and in doing so made sure that Florence And The Machine & Dizzee Rascal spent a second week in a row at no.2 with 'You Got The Dirtee Love'.

Rihanna climbed three places to no.3 with 'Rude Boy' while the much hyped Ellie Goulding made her debut at no.4 with 'Starry Eyed'. Alicia Keys was the only other non mover on the chart with 'Empire State Of Mind Part II' becoming lodged at no.5 while Timbaland featuring Katy Perry fell two to no.6 with 'If We Ever Meet Again'. Sugababes got a new entry at no.7 with 'Wear My Kiss' but Owl City fell five to no.8 with 'Fireflies'.  Helping Haiti saw a dramatic dip in sales as 'Everybody Hurts' crashed from the top spot to no.9. JLS completed the top ten picture as 'One Shot' went back up four places to no.10.

There were four climbers and one new entry in what remained of the top twenty.  Cheryl Cole advanced eight places to no.11 with 'Parachute' and Chiddy Bang got a new entry at no.12 with 'Opposite Of Adults'.  Marina & The Diamonds went back up nine to no.13 with 'Hollywood' and Leona Lewis was the highest climber of the week going up twenty six places to no.14 with 'I Got You'. Jay Sean featuring Sean Paul & Lil Jon were the final climbers going up two to no.17 with 'Do You Remember'.

The lower half of the chart saw two climbers and a further three new entries. Young Money featuring Lloyd climbed five to no.22 with 'Bedrock' and Ke$ha featuring 3OH!3 went up four to no.26 with 'Blah Blah Blah'. Alphabeat went straight in at no.29 with 'Hole In My Heart' and Pixie Lott made her debut at no.35 with 'Gravity'. The final new entry came at no.38 and went to Muse with 'Resistance'.

Mark Everett's eclectic band The Eels are back with 'Line In The Dirt'.  It's available on 7" vinyl and is taken from the bands eighth studio album 'End Times'. The album has already become the seventh of those to make the top thirty peaking at no.21.  You would have to go all the way back to 2001 to find their last chart hit with 'Souljacker' though their finest moment came in 1996 when their 'Beautiful Freak' album yielded the top ten hits 'Novocaine For The Soul' and 'Susan's House'. The b side is 'Little Bird' and the sleeve features illustrations from Adrian Tomine. With fans having already snapped up their copy of the album it is likely that this will really only appeal to collectors.  That in itself is a shame as this is a half decent pop song.

Daisy Dares You was named after the feature on the 1990's television series Zzap and she has already been tipped by The Times, BBC and The Guardian as one of the ones to watch over the coming year. Her real name is Daisy Coburn and she is just 16 years of age. This week finally sees her release her debut single 'Number One Enemy' with Chipmunk helping out on vocal duties.  The follow up single will be 'Rosie' and that already has a provisional release date of 17th May. She has just finished a series of UK dates and is scheduled to play at the Skegness Playaway Festival in April and the Isle Of Wight Festival in June.  Competition among female vocalists is fierce so it remains to seen how Daisy will perform.

'Gave It All Away' is the new single from Boyzone and it was written by fellow singer / songwriter Mika.  The band achieved seventeen consecutive top ten hits before their last outing 'Better' dropped short achieving only no.22. Sadly last year saw the band hit the headlines due to the death of singer Stephen Gately, and his memory lives on here as he had already provided some vocals on this track. It's taken from their forthcoming album 'Brother' which features some of their last work with Gately although he does not feature on the cover picture.  This reminds us of just how good their ear was for a good tune and is a fitting tribute to their former bandmate.  It should certainly do enough to see them secure a return to the top ten and could even get as far as the top five.

The enigmatic duo Dan Le Sac & Scroobius Pip return this week with their new single 'Get Better' which is the first track to be taken from their much anticipated forthcoming album 'The Logic Of Chance'. To date their only top forty hit remains 'Thou Shalt Always Kill' which peaked at no.34 though their 'Angles' album got as far as no.31 spawning the minor hits 'Letter From God To Man', 'Look For The Woman' and 'The Beat That My Heart Skipped' in the process. The duo formed back in 2006 when Dan booked Scroobius Pip to play at a gig he was promoting at the Fez Club but it wasn't until the end of 2007 that they signed to Rob Da Bank's Sunday Best Recordings label.  I loved their debut album and if the standard of this is anything to go by I will be enjoying the follow up too.

'Song Of Your Desire' is the latest release from Ash and stars as letter K in their A to Z series of singles.  That means its number eleven, so by default there are fifteen releases left between now and the end on September 27th. To date none have made the top 100, but six have made the Indie top twenty with 'Tracers' peaking at no.8. The vinyl subscription of the single series has now sold out though fans can still purchase downloads of each track as they get released.  It is likely that this will follow the same pattern as previous releases with a good showing on the Indie chart coupled with a lower ranking in the mainstream chart. The band embark on their Spring tour very soon and hopefully have some more corking tunes up their sleeve for the remainder of the series.

Ke$ha follows up her massive hit 'Tik Tok' with her new single 'Blah Blah Blah'.  It features the talents of 3OH!3 who have been spending plenty of time in the top five lately with their Katy Perry collaboration 'Starstrukk'.  She already has her first number one under her belt as she guested on Flo Rida's hit 'Right Round' while she has also established herself through her top ten album 'Animal'. This single has already made the top ten in the US, Australia and Canada but the UK release schedule has been slightly behind.  She has formerly provided backing vocals for Paris Hilton and Britney Spears and has also worked with both Pitbull and Taio Cruz.  This will add another big hit to her name and provide confirmation that she is one of the artists to watch this year.

'The Cave' is the brand new single from London based folk rockers Mumford & Sons and as with the previous two releases it is available on a 7" vinyl format. It's taken from their debut album on Island Records 'Sign No More' which made the top ten at the end of last year and has previously yielded the top thirty hit 'Little Lion Man'. This week sees them kick off their UK tour with gigs planned in Glasgow, Manchester, Wolverhampton and Newcastle. They have capped off what has already been a great year by being nominated for the Best New Band at the forthcoming NME Awards.  They are just one of a number of bands who are now showing that you don't have to score big hit singles to ensure decent album sales and as such don't expect to see this gracing the top forty next Sunday.

R'n'b legend Mary J Blige releases her latest single 'I Am' on Polydor Records this week.  It comes released on a CD format this week.  She released her first album 'What's The 411' back in 1992 and has been a consistent performer ever since.  This track is taken from her latest studio album 'Stronger With Each Tear' and has already made the top ten on the US r'n'b chart. It's been three years now since her last UK chart appearance with 'Just Fine' and it was five years ago that she scored her biggest hit with her U2 collaboration 'One'. The video was directed by Anthony Mandler and made its debut at the end of last year. If this gets enough airplay it should become her twenty sixth top forty hit which is no mean feat.

Dance act Gramophonedzie hail from Belgrade in Serbia are looking to score their first hit this weekend with the release of 'Why Don't You' on both CD and 12" formats.  Last week saw them play at Noctural @ Matter in London while later this month they are set to play six consecutive nights at WMC in Miami. This track is a curious mix of 1920's music / vocals and a present day bassline. It has received over 30,000 plays on their MySpace site and the iTunes EP features new mixes including Trevor Loveys Remix, the DJ Sneak Remix, the Bingo Players Remix and GreenMoney's GramoPhountzied Mix. This sounds like nothing else around at the moment and deserves to be a top ten hit.  Either this will take off in a big way or it will fall under the radar completely.

Also released this week are 'Love Harder' by Ali Love, 'Remedy' by Crookers featuring Miike Snow, 'Kiss The Sun' by Detroit Social Club, 'I Met Up With The King' by First Aid Kit, 'Beaches & Friends' by French Horn Rebellion, 'Blueberry / Best In Class' by Late Of The Pier, 'Chaos' by New Young Pony Club, 'Lightspeed' by Twin Atlantic, 'Never Be Your Woman' by Wiley featuring Emeli Sande and 'Skeletons' by Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Download releases this week include 'Scotland The Brave' by Alex Cornish, 'And The Boys' by Angus & Julia Stone, 'Run & Hide' by The Automatic, 'Alice' by Avril Lavigne, 'Swagga' by Fe-Nix, 'Good Day' by Jukebox The Ghost, 'Lalala' by LMFAO, 'Wishing / Finger On It' by Mama's Gun, 'Never Gonna Give In' by Michaela Wright, 'I Don't Want To Go Out' by Nerina Pallot and 'Pass Out' by Tinie Tempah.

Next weeks big new entries look set to come from Tinie Tempah, Boyzone and Gramophonedzie but I expect Jason Derulo to hold on for a second week at the top. Don't forget to stop by next week when artists releasing new singles look set to include Beverley Knight, Gabriella Cilmi, Goldfrapp and Robbie Williams.  Until then have yourself a good week.
